Richter, Suite for violin and piano
The Suite for violin and piano is from the most definitive years of Richter’s style. Composed in 1963, it consists of five short movements, each with distinct characters. It is generally dissonant, and the last movement is also rhythmically complex. The suite received its premiere in 1964 in Huntington, NY, with Jo Margaret Farris on violin and the composer on piano.
